Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestral Winds

The "Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestral Winds" was inspired by the Benny Goodman Quartet's 1938 Carnagie Hall performance of Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing". Bukvich uses the four ranges of the clarinet (clalumeau, throat, clarino, and altissimo) as building blocks for some of the formal and harmonic elements of the concerto.

The recording that we have (currently unavailable for download) features J. Roger Cole on clarinet. J. Roger Cole, professor of clarinet at the University of Idaho, received his MM and DMA from Yale University where he studied with Keith Wilson. He has done additional study with Jack Brymer in London and Richard Stolzman in New York.
