Soprano Deanna Holland, senior voice performance major at the Hampton School, chose the text that Dan Bukvich employed when composing this work that was premiered on Ms. Holland's senior recital in the Spring of 1997. Originally for soprano with piano accompaniment, "Four Phrases from Psalm 91" now has additional settings: piano and four part chorus, soprano and orchestral winds and four part chorus.

Portions of the program notes were extracted from those written by Anthony Conrad Mengelkamp for the CD, "Music of Daniel Bukvich," published in 1997; edited for content by Susan G. Weaver.
