| Program Notes: | "Song Suite for Band" is written in contemporary style. It comprises three movements, a march, a waltz, and a tango. The work is a "very tonal, Grade-2 piece," which, according to Bukvich, contains a wealth of teaching material for young band musicians. Dan has also used it successfully in high school honor band settings as a teaching/site-reading piece. "Song Suite for Band" was written for Eagle Rock Jr. High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho - John Schuller, director. Portions of the program notes extracted from The Careers and Works of Emerging Composers of Music for the Wind-Band: Discussions with Jack Stamp, Thomas Duffy, Andrew Boysen, Jr. and Daniel Bukvich by James P. McCrann; edited for content by Susan G. Weaver. |
