| Program Notes: | Bukvich's "Xylophone Concerto" is a tribute to Irving Berlin. It was composed for solo xylophone with concert band/wind ensemble and a separate ragtime band. The piece flips back and forth between very contemporary sounds and the sound of ragtime, which Dan associates with the xylophone. It is based on the initial phrase of Berlin's " A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody". |
